Coastlines. Florida stretches south into a long peninsula. California has a long Pacific edge.
Panhandles. Oklahoma has a narrow western arm. Texas combines a northern rectangle with a much broader southern outline.
Similar shapes. Colorado and Wyoming are both roughly rectangular. Study their proportions; a region hint alone will not separate them because both are in the West.
About the outline game
Are the outlines rotated?
No. Shapes retain the orientation of our Albers USA map. They are resized to fit the frame, so displayed size does not tell you the state’s real area.
What happens when I get one wrong?
The correct name is revealed and the state enters your practice list. Finish the round to replay those states or start a new random set.
